Projects - Audi S1 Billet Dry Sump

Complete with it's hard anodising, the dry sump kit is made ready for it's owner.

Having done previous work for EPS Motorsport they came to us with an exciting new project for a very special race car they were working on.

The car in question would be expected to be capable of extremely high power, and be subject to pretty severe forces when being raced.

Such a project required a completely custom sump, even down to having the pipework placed in a layout conducive to the engine orientation in this one-of-a-kind car.

All the individual internal details came together to make this sump work flawlessly at Pikes Peak 2017.

In a similar fashion to most projects, the first port of call was to get access to an engine block so that it could be scanned. This allowed us to reverse engineer all of the bolt holes as well as measure exactly how the crank would move and interact with the sump.

With the scan complete and a detailed brief from the customer we were able present them with a design that would not only be stronger than anything else available, but also more effective with the demands that would eventually be placed upon this very unique piece of hardware

Checking the design every step of the way, the time eventually came to transfer this incredible model in to our CAM programming software - OneCNC.

Due to the amount of detail in this job, many opperations were required to machine this one of a kind sump.

With all parts manufactured including the scraper plate profiled from sheet aluminium, the whole kit was sent for coating before being presented to a very happy customer.
